Nell’s Kitchen is a bespoke kitchen renovation for a traditional tenement flat on Glasgow’s South Side. The design seeks to maximise the sense of space within the existing room through a simple and efficient layout, with a continuous run of cabinetry positioned along the longest wall. This approach opens up the room, improving circulation and creating a more generous and inviting environment.
A carefully balanced combination of open and closed storage provides both practicality and character, allowing everyday items to be displayed while maintaining a clean and organised appearance. The material palette combines cherry timber, steel, and a bespoke concrete worktop, creating a warm, tactile aesthetic rooted in natural materials and designed for longevity.
The project was developed in close collaboration with Glasgow-based designer and carpenter Neal Cameron. Building on the initial design concept, Neal brought his own craftsmanship and expertise to the project, successfully refining, fabricating, and installing the finished kitchen to a high standard.
